Academics
The resident faculty at Word of Life Bible Institute Hungary are dedicated men with years of teaching and ministry experience. In addition, the guest lecturer program offers a unique depth to our curriculum that few institutes can match. Each week successful pastors, seminary and college professors, and missionaries guide you through a book of the Bible or a course in some area of practical ministry.
CoursesThe curriculum contains courses taught by both resident faculty and guest lecturers. The academic year is based on a two semester system, consisting of 15 weeks in each semester. There are sixteen or twenty academic hours per week. This usually involves six hours of core curriculum from our resident faculty and ten hours from the guest lecturer. Second YearAfter completing your first year, which takes you through the whole Bible, you have the option to join us for another year. Our second year is focused primarily on people who want to be more active or full-time in ministry, equipping them for leading Bible studies, sharing devotionals and preparing to present a full sermon message. If you're considering being in ministry full-time you shouldn't miss out on this opportunity!

Program DurationThe program involves two academic semesters and a ministry practicum in the summer. The ministry practicums are usually completed at Christian youth camps around the world. Other ministry opportunities are permitted after submitting a clearly defined ministry plan that is mutually agreed upon by the participant, the director of their chosen ministry, and our staff. It is expected that our Hungarian speaking students will serve with our Word of Life Hungary Camps.

StudyParticipants usually spend 40 minutes or more in personal study and homework for every class hour (50 minutes) of academic instruction. Typical homework assignments include: read through the entire Bible over the school year, assigned reading in such volumes as Merrill C. Tenney’s New Testament Introduction and Charles Ryrie’s Basic Theology, as well as writing assignments, such as exegetical and homiletical outlines, theological summaries of certain Bible books, and research papers.
In addition to quizzes, a comprehensive written exam or a final paper or project is given after each guest lecturer’s course. Core curriculum courses involve comprehensive written exams, as well as group projects.
